Mitch Marovitz Chair, Public Relations Program and Collegiate Professor at the University of Maryland University College
Dr. Mitchell E. Marovitz, APR is the Chairman of the Public Relations Program and Collegiate Professor at the University of Maryland University College. He is also the immediate past president of the Public Relations Society of America’s National Capital Chapter, and a member of the Universal Accreditation Board and a member of the PRSA APR Task Force. Dr. Marovitz is also a retired from the Army as a colonel in 2002 after serving 30 years in a variety of public affairs positions including Public Affairs Officer, 5th Signal Command (1980-1982); Chief, Army Public Affairs-Los Angeles Branch (1992-1995); and Director, Media Operations, American Forces Information Service (2000-2002). He also served as the Commander of the American Forces Network Europe (1995-1998) and as the Commander/Publisher, European Stars and Stripes (1998-2000). Before joining Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. in 2004, Mitch, as an independent sub-contractor, Mitch authored the public affairs plan supporting the release of the Army Inspector General’s Report on Detainee Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. At Booz Allen, he led strategic communications teams in support of Intelligence Community andDefense Department clients until 2012, when he began his third career: teaching the next generation of public relations professionals.
