Charles S. Cowdrey, National Cable Communications Senior Vice President of Political Strategy
Charles “Chuck” Cowdrey was named Senior Vice President, Political Sales in November 2014. Under his leadership, the political business has seen unprecedented growth year after year. In many ways, Chuck has become the spokesperson for the cable industry within the political arena and has firmly established spot cable as a highly valuable advertising platform.
For the last decade Chuck served as NCC’s Vice President of Political Strategy where he built a team, and crafted a strategy that has changed the political advertising landscape. Prior to that Chuck led the Southeast Region to the second highest billing in the company as Senior Vice President for the Southeast Region. Very notably, Chuck was also instrumental in the development of interconnected markets which revolutionized the spot cable business by enabling advertisers to easily and efficiently reach cable audiences across entire markets. In 1997, he built and operated the nation’s third interconnect in Washington DC and it became the most profitable interconnect in the nation.
Chuck came to NCC from Gannett Broadcasting, where he had risen through the sales and marketing ranks to be named Station Manager for WUSA. Before that, he was General Manager of WDCA – TV in Washington DC and launched his television sales career at Group W Television Sales (Westinghouse Broadcasting).
Cowdrey is a graduate of The University of Maryland. He earned a Master of Science from University of Maryland, University College in 2000.
