Shumway Marshall Senior Digital Strategist - National Education Association
Shumway Marshall is a senior digital strategist at the National Education Association, the nation’s largest labor union. From the #RedForEd movement for better school funding to issues such as vouchers, immigration, and gun violence, Shumway designs and implements strategies that help educators, parents, and public education supporters use their voices and advocate online for policies that improve the lives of the nation’s 52 million public school students.
Prior to NEA, Shumway helped tens of thousands of business leaders advise Washington on creating jobs and accelerating our economy as the digital director of Business Forward. He also led the digital campaign for the federal court case challenging California’s Proposition 8, which led to marriage equality in the state. And at Equality California, the country’s largest statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization, his efforts helped pass more than 30 bills through the California legislature.
