Samantha Villegas, SaVi PR President
Samantha is an award-winning, accredited communications strategist with more than 20 years of experience assisting corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies achieve communications goals and positive behavioral changes in the areas of water, energy and recycling. For more than 15 years, she has assisted water utilities with branding, reputation and crisis management, as well as the execution of communications strategies to ensure positive positioning for rate increases, acquisitions, capital projects and change management. Since 2012, she has been her own boss as an independent public relations consultant under the brand SaVi PR, LLC.
In 2013 Sam served as president of the nation’s largest public relations membership organization, the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Prior to that she had served in various roles for the organization since 1999, and continues her service today, through oversight of its Hall of Fame Award and as the 2016 Chair of the Independent Public Relations Alliance (IPRA) section of the chapter. Through her involvement in PRSA-NCC, IPRA, Leadership Loudoun, The United Way Council of Loudoun, and her work with the Metropolitan Council of Governments, Sam is recognized among her peers as a regional leader in public relations. Sam has been published several times in PR and water trade publications, and local and regional newspapers; she has spoken at nearly a dozen conferences and seminars; and she has hosted a handful of webinars on the many facets of public relations. Sam holds a master’s degree in environmental policy from Johns Hopkins University.
