Michael Connery SVP, Digital Innovation, Weber Shandwick
Michael has been with Weber Shandwick over a decade, starting out as a digital advocacy specialist and rising to his current role of SVP, Digital Innovation. In this role, Michael functions as both a strategic advisor to clients, helping them navigate new trends in digital marketing, as well as a communications planner, developing integrated campaigns.
In his client work, Michael has developed and managed successful integrated advocacy campaigns on behalf of clients like The National Women’s Law Center, The National Education Association and PhRMA. His past clients also include YouTube, Yale University Office of Public Affairs, Environmental Defense Fund, WebMD, IBM and the Case Foundation. He specialized in integrated communications planning as well as helping clients develop new capabilities at the intersection of strategy, data analytics and content.
In addition to client work, Michael is a contributor to Media Genius, a suite of thought leadership reports and presentations on the trends shaping the future of marketing and communications, as well as an internal resource on strategies for tracking and counteracting disinformation, particularly as it pertains to pro- and anti-vax communications and the 2020 US elections.
Michael is the author of Youth to Power: How Today’s Young Voters Are Building Tomorrow’s Progressive Majority, and in 2004, he cofounded Music for America, a voter engagement organization that reached 2 million young voters through digital organizing at 2,400 live music events. He holds a BA in Philosophy and English from Boston College, and a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Indiana University, Bloomington.
