Sylvia Aguilera, APR, McDonald’s Corporation Director, Global Government and Public Affairs
Sylvia Aguilera, APR is the Director of Global Government and Public Affairs (GGPA) for McDonald’s Corporation. Based in Washington, DC, where she has spent most of her career, she uses her policy, stakeholder relations and strategic issues management expertise to create an environment in which the Brand and the business can flourish.
She focuses on global public affairs, outreach initiatives to global and national organizations and advocacy on federal policy issues. She is nationally recognized for her leadership in advocacy and communications and has been awarded an APR designation, a mark of distinction for public relations professionals.
Sylvia came to McDonald’s from the Hispanic Technology and Telecommunications Partnership, a policy organization that she helped form in 1996 to create better access to technology by underserved communities. Prior to HTTP, she held executive level positions at various organizations including a multicultural public relations firm, where she provided counsel to Fortune 500 companies.
Sylvia was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at the University of Chicago, where she earned her Master’s degree in Public Policy. She earned her Bachelor’s in International Relations from the American University.
Sylvia is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America and is on the board of directors of LATISM, Latinos in Social Media.
